Looks like there are really two prep school mtb leagues, one in Maine and one in NH/VT. We’ll be focusing on the one in NH/VT. Here’s the basic schedule and dates. I’ll have more info as the season progresses:
Sept 22 Proctor Academy
Sept 29 Kennett High School
Oct 6 Vermont Academy
Oct 13 Fryeburg Academy
Oct 20 Okemo Mt School ?
Oct 27 New Hampton School
All the races are on Wednesday afternoons, so it’ll be similar to our spring racing schedule.
We won’t be doing formal training for these races other than to just get out and ride mt bikes a lot. A good prep for these races until then would be to attend the Killington mtb ride on Tuesday nights and then the WBC ride on Thursday nights. As always, it’ll be good to do the WBC Wed night rides when you can and, for the cross guys, it looks like Paradise in Windsor is going to be doing their weekly training race again.
Alden and PKVJ will also be augmenting their mtb season with some cyclo-cross races. For any team members who would like to try cross, a bike racing religion in New England, just let me know. For cross races, we’ll be aiming at the following:
Green Mountain Cyclo-cross Weekend: September 18-19: http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=11403
Sun only of Gran Prix of Gloucester: Oct 3: http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=11416. Even if you’re not interested in racing cross, come down to this event anyway as it’s one of the biggest cross races in the country. We’ll go to watch Peter and Alden compete in the juniors and then hit Woodman’s on the way home: http://www.woodmans.com/.
Wicked Creepy Cross in Bennington: Oct. 31: http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=11085.
In general, we’ll try to do at least one day of each of the Verge series races: http://www.cxmagazine.com/2010-verge-new-england-cyclo-cross-schedule
We’re also going to try to make a concerted effort to do the Kelly Brush ride on September 11: http://www.kellybrushfoundation.org/events.shtml.
