other updates
Here are some additions to Sat's update email:
* I've added the Tokeneke road race on Aug. 14 to the race schedule. It's the New England Road Championships.
* No van for Claremont tomorrow night so everyone will have to drive themselves or carpool.
* I've just received this very exciting email regarding the prep school mt. bike championships:
Hello and Happy Summer!
I am writing to update everyone about the First Annual New England High School Mountain Bike Championships. I sent out my first e-mail about this event last January and received confirmation from 8 schools in 4 states that they would be there, and I am hoping that many other schools show up. The date has been set as Saturday, November 5, 2011.
The tentative schedule of races is:
2:30 Coaches Sprint (1-2 laps)
3:15 Boys A (4 laps)
3:17 Freshman Boys (3 laps)
3:20 Girls A (2-3 laps)
Teams may enter up to six riders in each division. There will be prizes for top finishers in each race, and also an award to the top team in each division (based on each team's top 4 riders). If a rider is lapped they will ride one fewer lap but they will still be listed on the results and can score for their team. Junior high racers are welcome in the Freshman Boys race.
The Coaches' race I added on the request of one coach, and with the knowledge that many Lakes Region coaches bring their bikes to races. I think it could be fun to give our athletes a chance to cheer for their coaches and I hope that many of you will sign up for this event. I am thinking that this race should be a handicap start with start times determined by age and gender (and possibly size of bribe paid to the race organizer :)
I am working with our athletic director on a policy for independent racers.
The course was less than 50% complete when I proposed this race last January. It is now about 80% complete and our team should be riding it by the start of October, so the course should be in excellent condition by November 5.
I would love to receive e-mail from any of you, whether to confirm your attendance, ask a question, make a suggestion, etc.
Justin
