Well, the KMS team has once again had a breakthrough weekend down at the NBX Verge Cross races in Warwick, RI. For the first time at a Verge series race, we had not one, but two, podium finishes. Riding on her brand new Cdale Hi-Mod Sram Red cross bike from the Start House, Erin stepped up to two 3rd place finishes in the Women 3/4 category, bested only by national junior girls' cross champion, Emma White, and national girls' mt. biking cross country champion, Ellen Noble. Fantastic job, Erin!
As for the boys, Ansel Dickey came up with the goods on Sun for a 10th place in the Cat 3 men/Jr. race while Brendan Rhim finished 23rd on a neutral support bike after he had a catastrophic breakage while shifting on Sat. Peter, Jr. and Alden Suokko also had top half solid finishes both days and Coach redeemed himself from the previous week with 5th on Sat and 6th on Sun.
The team also had the pleasure of giving three-time Jr. National Cross Champion, Jeff Bahnson, a lift to the race and back. Jeff happens to be attending Green Mountain College in Poultney and called me out of the blue as he needed a ride to the race since his collegemate totaled his car in a car accident. Here're some great pics and vids of Jeff's international cross exploits: http://www.dccofd.org/jeffbahnson.htm
