Welcome back Varsity team from their excellent base mileage training camp in Greenville, SC! It looks like the camp was a great success! All the kids are keen for further base mileage rides and their zeal for quality nutrition seems to have blossomed. And a huge thanks goes out to John Wetzel for taking the kids down to camp and back when I fell ill last week. He once again has stepped up hugely for this team and we won't forget it!
I've updated the team calendar (see www.kmscyclingteam.com) with the general training plan and all races through the end of May and I've added most of the racing for the whole season.
Transitions for the remainder of March are that we're finished with our strength building phase and we're now onto more race preparation training. Riders should study the calendar changes closely and let me know if they'd like to modify their personal training in any way.
The first race of the season will not be Marblehead on April 1, but rather the Princeton collegiate race weekend on March 24-25. I've already made reservations for a suite at the Holiday Inn in Newton, NJ. Please let me know if you're going and, if you are, please do preregister using the bikereg link under more details on the calendar entry. Once we have a headcount, I can let everyone know what the costs will be. This should be the only collegiate race where we have to stay in a hotel as I have some accommodations connections for Yale.
For collegiate racing, let's start with the following categories:
Ansel, Brendan: Mens A (if there's a D1 or D2 choice, we're a D2 team)
Peter, Alden: Mens B
Erin: Womens A
You'll note that the Princeton weekend takes the place of the Battenkill preview ride, but that's somewhat by design as the Bkill ride is now $50 which is just too much. We've decided to do our own Bkill preview ride the following Saturday on March 31.
Everyone should be getting their racing wheels and all gearing dialed in in the next two weeks.
Tommy Shebell, please do not forget to buy your racing license and make sure you choose Killington Mountain School Cycling Team as your high school racing team.
Thanks all. The season is nearly underway!
