Well, after an incredible road season, we now find ourselves in the post-season where riders go in somewhat different directions. Brendan and Ansel will be competing in the Jr. Tour of Ireland from July 10-15, Key (Peter, Jr.; we've started to call him by his middle name mainly due to massive result data issues with USACycling, but it's kind of stuck) and Erin will be doing the Tour de Rimouski in Quebec from July 12-16 and many of our younger riders will be off to various summer camps and ski camps. So, July is a good time to rest, catch up with family and enjoy being a kid.
What we will do in July is keep our speed up by attending the Claremont training race on Tuesday night each week, that is if we can ever have a rain-free Tuesday!
After the elite team members get back from their post-season international travel, everyone except Brendan will take a much needed rest until the beginning August. B will only get a week's rest after Ireland as he's been asked to attend a Jr. National Team trip to Belgium to vie for a five-man team that will compete in the Jr. Tour of Flanders, so he'll be jumping over the pond again for three weeks in late July / early August to race in the stars and stripes of the Jr. National Team.
The next race we'll focus on as a full team will be the Concord Criterium in Concord, NH on August 4.
Thanks and enjoy your summer. I'll be touching base with results from our world travelers and then with particular plans for the August races, Green Mountain Stage Race, the fall criteriums and, of course, cyclocross season! In the meantime, I hope to see you all at Claremont, especially the kids and cubs!
